The KONGAKUT RIVER lays 450 miles north of Fairbanks on the north slope of the Brooks Range. We cross the Yukon River and the Alaska pipeline. It takes 3 1/2 hours going 130 mph by small plane to get there. Situated in the north eastern most reach of Alaska, it's near the Canadian border and the Arctic Ocean. The Arctic Char fishing can be superb. It is the crown jewel of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
